My introduction to jewelry began in 1987 in the city of Guadalajara, Mexico while I was a former student of the Escuela de Artes Plasticas de la Universidad de Guadalajara. As an apprentice of Porfirio Valencia, a well-known family of metalsmiths, my knowledge of different techniques and use of various metals (silver, gold and platinum) expanded.
My work is influenced by the sense of strength and balance of minimal designs. They are contemporary, geometric and simple in style and feeling. I use unexpected combinations of metals, materials and stones. I am mindful of the existing qualities nature has created which I then enhance and incorporate in
my metalwork.
Essentially, my creations elicit a style and form of contemporary urban elegance.
