Jivita Harris-Casey
Jivita Harris-Casey relies on nature and earthly wonder to inspire her work. Her patient and considerate observations of nature in its’ unadulterated state combined with literal and historical interpretations of truth coalesce into metal daydreams. Her awareness of the natural world began as a child. She participated in her family’s regular forays into the deserts and mountains in search of solitude, bonding, and natural treasures. She and her sisters would regularly pour over their grandmothers’ stone and mineral collection. Their findings took them to fantastic sceneries in the waves of a picture jasper, or into the night sky reflected in the sparkle of a blue sapphire.

She has also had opportunity to travel the world on her own as well. Her explorations have lead her to Western Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa in search of life experiences, inspiration, and other artists explorations into their craft. This travel time also allowed Jivita to read extensively of literature from all corners of the Earth. The written word has even found its’ way onto her work. Some of the stimulating authors of note include; Arthur Rimbaud, Pablo Neruda, Everett Reuss, and Albert Camus.

Jivita sustained her interest in story telling by channeling the fables and observations she made through life and nature into her metals classes in college and eventually her jewelry. She then earned her Bachelors in Fine Arts from California State University Long Beach and moved on to apprentice for acclaimed jewelers and designers.
Jivita’s latest works have progressed into a collection of natural elements that tell of a romantics’ infatuation with emotion, beauty, and individuality. These elements of her inspiration become a part of each person who wears her work.
